Meet the Crew: The Stunt Coordinator
Posted by admin under: Black Site; Filmmaking; Indiependent Film; Pre Production .
This week, I’m highlight a major key figure on my film, Elliot Santiago. When he came on board, the film took a whole new level of realism. If it wasn’t for him, most of the action on the film would look amateurish at best and comical at worst. On top of that, he is suck a great guy to be around and to work with. Even on the one bad day in the shoot, he never lost his cool and was always a pleasure to have around.
What’s your job on this film?
I am a stunt Coordinator. My job is to have a safe environment by providing materials to protect actors and stuntmen in their actions. A stunt Coordinator’s job is also to formulate the actions pertaining to the script, and to help guide the director with ideas.
How did you get into this position?
I have a background in gymnastics and martial arts which led into Stunt Work & Stunt Coordinating.
What do you like best about it?
What I like best about doing Stunts and Stunt Coordinating is when everyone hits their stunt and they are safe.
What do you like least about it?
When actors and stunt people don’t listen.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to do what you do?
My advice to them would be to, train in various fields such as Boxing, (All-Aspects) of Martial Arts
How can people reach you or see more of your work?
At this point I am working on a website, if you’re interested in knowing when it will be completed, you can email me.
