The Sundance Sales

Head over to NYTImes, they have a piece on the films that manage to get sold at this year’s festival.  Most sold for a lot less than last year’s films.  In fact, there wasn’t single blockbuster sale of 10 million like last year.  That movie cost about 9 million to make and it made back half that.

One new development was the video-on-demand services for films.  Selling your film to video on demand services.  Some films manages to get anywhere from 100,000 for “Humpday” to 1 million for “In the Loop.”  Joe Swanberg, the director of “Alexander, the Last,” stated: “I’ve come to realize that my festival run is my theatrical run,”
